Rhea Deming
(1925 – 2009)


Funeral services for Arnold Rhea Deming, 83, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 12, 2009, in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Clarke officiating.  Burial will follow in Browns Cemetery.

Mr. Deming died March 9, 2009, at Regional Hospital. He was born in Madison County, TN, the son of the late Everette Winchester and Pearl Cooper Deming & was educated in the local schools.  He received his PS Degree in Nashville, TN.   Mr. Deming joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served in the South Pacific during WWII. In 1946 he went to work for the Cooper Sign Company which began his long career in the sign business. Mr. Deming founded and started Den-Ray Sign Company, Inc. in 1965 and operated it until he retired. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1848. Mr. Deming enjoyed his hobbies of genealogy research, fishing and the excitement of playing with his granddaughter Holly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, E.W. Deming, Jr.

Mr. Deming is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Carolyn Hopper Deming to whom he was married in 1949; son Rhea L. Deming; daughter-in-law, Martha Butler Deming; granddaughter, Holly Brianna Deming; daughter Dr. Ellen Deming-Jumper; son-in-law, Harold Wayne Jumper; sister Gladys Deming Honeycutt; brother-in-law, Nathan L. Honeycutt; sister Rebecca Deming Luther and nephews, Charles Richard Deming and Nathan L. Honeycutt, III.

Pallbearers to serve are Jere Oneal, Allen Ewell, Jerry Woods, Robert Brooks, David Winslow and Charles Cooper.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be sent to: First Christian Church, 1347 Campbell Street, Jackson, TN 38301.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00P.M. until 8:00P.M. today at the Lawrence-Sorensen funeral home.
