This Indenture made this seventeenth day of August In the year of our Lord One
Thousand Seven hundred and eighty-five between WILLIAM WILLIAMS of the County
Halifax of the one part and SAMUEL ORGAN of the Same County of the other part
Witnesseth: that the said WILLIAM
WILLIAMS for and in consideration of the sum of Sixty pounds current money of
Virginia, to him in hand paid by the said SAMUEL ORGAN at or before the
insealing and delivering of these presents, the Receipt whereof he doth hereby
acknowledge, hath granted Bargained, Sold and Confirmed unto the said SAM'L
ORGAN, his heirs and assigns, One Certain Tract or parcel of Land lying and
being in the said County of Halifax on the branches of Brush Creek containing
by estimation One Hundred and Forty Acres more or less and bounded as follows
to Wit:
Beginning at pointers in JOHN WYATT's line and Thence his line North 35 degrees
East one hundred twenty-two poles to Pointers; Thence on ELIZABETH STONE's
lines East sixty-six poles to a pine; South fifty poles to pointers, North 60
degrees East sixty-eight poles to pointers on a fork of Brush Creek and down
the same as it meanders to WILLIAM WYATT's line and along his line North 80
degrees West Ninety poles to a Pine and Thence a new dividing Line North 61
degrees West One Hundred and Twenty poles to the Beginning; With all houses,
garden, orchards, trees, woods, underwoods, ways and water courses being or
standing and also the Reversion and Reservions Remainder and Remainders Rents
Issues and Profits thereof and all the Estate Right Title, Interest, property
clame and demand Whatsoever of him , the said WILLIAM WILLIAMS of in and to the
same and every part and parcel thereof
To Have and To Hold the said One
Hundred and Forty Acres of Land and Premises with all its appertenances unto
The said SAM'L ORGAN, his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof
of him the said SAM'L ORGAN his heirs and assigns forever and the said WILLIAM
WILLIAMS for himself, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, do
covenant, promise and agree with the said SAM'L ORGAN, his heirs and assigns
that he the said SAM'L ORGAN, his heirs and assigns shall forever hereafter by
virtue of these Presents, have, hold, use, occupy, possess & enjoy the
above sold Land and Premises with all its appertenances freely and clearly
exonerated and discharged of all and from all incumbrances of what nature or
kindsoever and that the said WILLIAM WILLIAMS and his heirs all and singular
the above said Bargained and Sold premises with their and every of their
appertenances unto the said SAM'L ORGAN, his heirs and assigns Against
Themselves and their heirs and against all and every other person and persons
whatsoever lawfully claiming the same, shall and will warrant and forever
defend by these presents

Memorandum: That on the day of the date of the within written Deed, Quiet and
Peaceable Possession of delivery and seizure of the within granted Land &
Premises was granted by the within named SAM'L ORGAN according to the Full
Meaning and intent of the within written Indenture. Witness Present
At a Court held for Halifax county the 18th Day of August 1785, This Indenture with
The Memorandum Thereon from WILLIAM WILLIAMS to SAMUEL ORGAN was acknowledged
and Sarah, wife of the said William, being privately examined relinquishes her
right of Dower in and to the Said Granted & Conveyed Land & Premises
and the Same is Ordered to be Recorded.
