| Priscilla Jane Gregory,
89, passed away June 26, 2007, in Eugene, Oregon, of
cancer. She was born April 13, 1918, to
parents Mary (Weaver) and Grant Carl Gray, in Chicago
Illinois. Jane married Glenn Gregory on
August 30, 1940, in San Francisco, California.
She held sacred the
creation of a nurturing home for her husband of 65
years, Glenn, and her daughter Sylvia. She
excelled in forgiveness, compassion and sensitivity to
the feelings and needs of others. She put these
qualities to work in more than 20 years of service as a
Hospice volunteer and 15 years as a volunteer at Sacred
Heart Hospital's Intensive Care Unit.
She also supported her daughter's work with the poor in
El Salvador and with local women struggling with poverty
and homelessness. In this work, she gave
countless hours and years of service in making possible
economic development work with the women of Teosinte, El
Salvador, whose workshop she traveled to in Teosinte to
visit in 1995 at age 77. She always gave
unconditional love and acceptance to all; she never met
anyone she considered lesser than herself.
She is survived by her
daughter, Sylvia Gregory, of Eugene. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, in 2005, and 3
brothers: Grant, Paul and Charles Gray.
A Memorial Service will
be held on Sunday, July 15, 2007, at First United
Methodist Church, 1376 Olive St., Eugene.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jane Gregory's
name to Sacred Heart Medical Center Hospice, Eugene. |
