Obituary of William Houston Douglas

Funeral services were held Friday at 3 PM at the Van Alstyne Christian Church for WILL H. DOUGLAS, 85, retired farmer and stockman. He died Thursday at 1:10 PM following a heart attack.

The Rev. D.A. Holt, pastor, will conduct. Assisting will be the Rev. Jimmie Allen, Baptist minister, and the Rev. Herman Mayo, Methodist minister. Burial was in Van Alstyne Cemetery, directed by Fox-Fanning Funeral home.

Mr. DOUGLAS had lived on the same farm for the past 61 years. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.G.DOUGLAS. Mrs. Douglas (his wife), the former AMANDA HUCKABY, died Jan 24, 1950. He was a member of the Christian Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. W.G.HOGAN of Sherman, Mrs. G.V.COTTEN of Van Alstyne, Mrs. B.G.WHITT of Colbert, Okla., Mrs. BILLIE IRELAND of Dallas and Mrs. VIDA JOHNSTON of Wichita Falls; one son, GLENN DOUGLAS of Van Alstyne; one brother, J.M.DOUGLAS of Van Alstyne; a sister, Mrs. ELLEN BOWEN, of Gunter; and seven grandchildren.

(Note: William Houston Douglas was born 10 Feb 1866 in Grayson County, Texas, and married Amanda Caroline Huckaby on 5 Apr 1891. He was a twin to Robert Hamilton Douglas who died in 1939.)
