Death of Mr. Chittick

Monday morning at his home near Geetingsville, Archibald Chittick died after only a short illness. Mr. Chittick was 82 years of age, coming here in 1832 and purchased the farm upon which his life was passed.

Deceased was a veteran of the Mexican war, and was an honest, upright and worthy citizen. His good wife and six children survive him...Dr. Chittick of this city, being a son

The funeral was held from the family residence at 2 o’clock Tuesday and the remains were interred in the cemetery near Geetingsville.

(Notes from Shirley Webb): Archibald Chittick was born in Ulster County, NY, on 19 Feb 1812.
He was the son of Archibald Chittick (24 Jun 1779 Ireland – 28 Aug 1855 Clinton Co. IN) and Rachel Miller (19 Aug 1784 – 22 May 1847). He married Hannah Jane Compton on 17 Aug 1847 in Clinton County, Indiana. Their children were Dr. Charles Chittick, James Chittick, Rachel Chittick, Rebecca Chittick, Paulina Chittick, A. M. Chittick and William Chittick.
