OBITUARY

 

            Sarah J. Carson was born in Tippecanoe county, Ind., March 18, 1838, died at her home near

Rossville, Indiana, January 22, 1902, aged sixty-three years, ten months and four days.

            She was united in marriage to William Carson July, 1856.  To this union were born seven sons

and one daughter, two sons dying in infancy.  She was bereft of her companion June 11, 1887.    In

early life she united with the Presbyterian church.   In 1896, having changed her views on the subject

of baptism, she united with the Baptist church in which she lived a consistent Christian life.

            A few hours before her spirit took its flight she called her children to her bedside and bade them

farewell; praying for a blessing to fall upon each.  She died in the hope of eternal life.  She leaves to

mourn her departure four sons, one daughter, seven grandchildren, two brothers, two sisters and a

host of friends. 

            The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. P. Tedford, assisted by Rev. W. Al Kleckner.

Interment in the Rossville cemetery.

William F. Carson, James P. Carson, Edward G. Carson, Robert W. Carson and two other sons, names not known.
