Journal and Courier ROSSVILLE: Cora June Savory, 78, of Rossville, died at 7:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at her residence. Born April 2, 1927, in Rossville, she was a 1944 graduate of Rossville High School and had been a resident since 1949. She had previously lived in Dayton, Ohio, and Long Island, NY. She married William "Bill" Savory on Jan 19, 1946, in Richmond, Indiana, and he survives. Mrs. Savory retired from the Kent Ryan Law Office and had previously been employed as personnel manager with Del Monte Foods in Frankfort. She had also worked in Dr. Fred Flora's office for 2 years and managed the Selective Service office in Frankfort. She was a member of Rossville Presbyterian Church, where she taught the "Golden Cheer", and was also involved in the Youth Fellowship of the church and church choir along with her husband. She was a former Girl Scout leader and also served as former president of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rossville Present Day Ladies Group. Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Kathy Gilpin (husband: Paul) of Brimfield, Ill., and Lynn Barnhart (husband: Jim) of Tullahoma, Tenn. |
